Experience
I have a degree in English from Cornell University. I'm aiming to earn my PhD in the subject. While studying, I tutored 15 hours a week at a local nonprofit called 826 Boston. We worked with students on improving their reading and creative writing abilities after school. I specialize in all things English-related, including grammar and syntax, SAT subject test prep, college essays, and reading. I can help a student improve their vocabulary to ensure they can accurately articulate their thoughts in their essays, as well as provide test-taking tips to help them improve their scores for the GRE. I strive to offer flexibility in my sessions, working through each concept at the student's natural learning rate while finding the ideal way to explain the ideas to them. I consider the student's academic goals and learning needs while planning their tutoring plan. I integrate fun and creative methods to keep the student's interest in the subject. I encourage asking questions as they arise, rather than waiting until the end. I have flexible availability for tutoring, including weekends and nights. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy traveling the world. I've spent time in Bolivia, Chile, and Peru, among other locations. I love to go backpacking and canoeing.
